Floyd has been working in the electronic security field since 1990 and has been an integral part of the Dallas Security Systems family since 2006. He has spent most of his life in the Dallas area, having moved here from Kansas when he was just a year old.

Floyd grew up in Mesquite along with his three brothers and started his family in the same city. He has three adult sons and three grandchildren. When his sons were younger, he was actively involved in youth sports and coached multiple soccer teams over 10 years. Nowadays,

Floyd likes to spend as much time as possible away from the hustle and bustle of city life. He enjoys hiking in the mountains or deserts of New Mexico, camping in the woods, or simply hanging out in East Texas with family and friends. Floyd has always had a love for music and has played several instruments over the years, but he still enjoys playing the guitar. At this point in his life, Floyd is focused on enjoying life and not stressing over the little things.

Customer requested that DSS install an emergency lockdown button. We ran 22/4 wire from the panel to the office location and installed the lockdown button. We terminated the wires and programmed the button. We programmed the link to outputs. We also installed a RBSN relay and wired the relay into the DMP. Finally, we tested the system and verified the doors responded to the lockdown button.

Customer contacted us to repair two Vitek Dome cameras. When we arrived, there was no power to the existing camera. We then traced the wiring and discovered that the power source at the reception desk was cut off somewhere along the line, which resulted in no power reaching the camera. We found an alternative power supply in a closet near the camera; it had been unplugged. We plugged in the transformer and restored power to the camera location. After that, we installed the new camera and focused it.

Customer contacted DSS to figure out why their alarm system failed to test. DSS met with their IT specialist. He ran some diagnostics on the network switch while we tested the cable. The cable was showing an open on one of the blue pair and one of the brown pair. After replacing the cable connections, a test still showed the same opening. We ran 30’ of new CAT6 while the IT Specialist reset the switch. Once the switch came back online, we tested for communications, which was a success. Both the alarm system as well as the access systems are operational and communicating.
